Often enough these fears/phobias in reality pose no actual threat, but they can become so severe and can cause extreme anxiety. The problem with having a phobia is that your fear becomes unreasonable.
It may come to the point where you try to avoid it to such a point that it leads to drastic changes in your lifestyle. A phobia means that by even looking or being in contact with an object or situation, it can lead to panic and anxiety.
However, with the right amount of theraphy and counselling, these fears can be controlled and managed largely.
